Our Legacy and Achievements

For over 30 years, The Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu Association strove to be an effective and comprehensive art that deeply valued inclusivity, accessibility, and compassion between its members. As a non-profit martial arts body, we were dedicated to providing a structured syllabus, rigorous safety benchmarking, and high-quality training oversight. We believe what the Association gave to the learning of Jiu Jitsu is unlike any other.

Many of us have made lifelong friends and even families while training, and the positive impact that it has had on our lives and the others we meet is immeasurable. We are incredibly proud of this legacy and the time we all spent cultivating ourselves and each other.

Closure of the Association

Effective as of 10th November 2026, The Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu Association has been formally dissolved. Following a comprehensive review by the Committee and the Technical Director, it was concluded that the Association could no longer operate due to the growing demands of martial arts governance, our decreasing size, and the geographical spread of clubs. Most importantly, it was no longer possible to provide the long-term grade benchmarking and rigorous training that our instructors and senior grades require.

Cessation of Affiliation

Please be advised that the National Association has completely ceased operations, and there is no continued association, affiliation, or insurance provided to any former member clubs. Former clubs that have chosen to continue training now operate as entirely independent entities under new, separate governing bodies.

Furthermore, because the Association can no longer provide safety benchmarking, syllabus oversight, or quality control, any use, or continued use, of the Aiuchi name, branding, grades, and syllabus by any club or person is strictly prohibited to prevent any ambiguity and legal liability.

No Successor Organizations or Continuation

While we are pleased that many of our former clubs will continue to teach martial arts under different names and different governing bodies, it is important to clarify that there is no successor to the Aiuchi Jiu Jitsu Association. Any new associations, syndicates, or clubs formed by former members are entirely separate, independent entities. They are not a continuation, rebranding, or reforming of Aiuchi or a part of it. No group, club, or individual is authorized to claim they represent the continuation of our Association, its syllabus, or its organizational structure.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Aiuchi style of Jiu Jitsu is permanently retired and is no longer authorized to be taught by anyone, in any capacity.

Historical Records and Contact Information

We are incredibly proud of everything this Association and its members achieved over the years. To preserve this legacy, Tom Hill and Martyn Kingsbury have been appointed as the final custodians to oversee the secure archival of all historical grading records. The Association has allocated a fund for secure web hosting to ensure these records are preserved and the final custodians remain contactable.
